Sortis du noir (Out of Darkness) presents sacrificial motifs in which eroticism
emerges from the night (and yet throws no light on the nature of the lovers'
union), as the uncertain rituals of the unspeakable fade and disappear into
the graphite-gray lava beyond, destroyed by erosion and running water.
